A typical engagement might use Two Yamaha S115 V or Two S 215 V speakers powered by a 2,500 watt amplifier, and may also include one of the listed subwoofers powered by an 800 watt amplifer. This is able to provide much higher sound levels than required for most dances. However, if the engagement is for an extremely large area, we can provide sufficient power to shake even the largest venues. We will have backup equipment on site. Please let us know how many people you expect and the approximate size of the area in which you expect to entertain.
(Additional equipment includes headphones, microphones, wireless microphones, mixers, crossovers, players, music storage, cargo trailer, etc... If you would like Karaoke, please let us know when you reserve a date - We expect to add Karaoke in November 2008)
Sound:
Ok, so you might get bored with the details, but the short of it is we have a very high quality professional high end audio system suitable for even the largest celebrations.
2,500 watt amp powering Two Yamaha S115 V speakers 800 watt amp powering (either one Peavey 118b or one Peavey 218 folded horn subwoofer) or Two Yamaha S 215 speakers with or without a subwoofer (these speakers already have a lower speaker driver in the enclosure) is normal. For a large venue or a large number of guests, additional speakers and amplifiers may be appropriate. We can discuss this when you make your reservation.
Lights:
Lighting effects can really enhance your dance! Be sure to reserve lighting with your date! We presently will provide lighting from our collection at no additional charge for indoor events. Lighting can take an additional half an hour to set up and take down. Lights can be very demanding with respect to electric power. For a proper light show it is important to have electric circuits capable of providing the required power without affecting the audio portion of your show.
BASIC CHARGES:
$375 for four hours and $50 per hour thereafter before midnight and $100 per hour after midnight. There is no charge for set up time and set up is not charged against the four hours. Wedding Ceremony music in addition to the reception is an additional $150. Wedding Ceremony music without a reception is billed at the standard four hour booking. If the ceremony is at the same place as the reception and no additional speakers need be placed or moved, you might prefer to simply book the standard four hour program and consider overtime as necessary, however most weddings have the ceremony and receptions in different rooms. Adeposit of $50 is required to reserve a date and is not refundable. Both parties will sign a simple contract. Thebalance is due two weeks before the event. Payment may be made by credit card, money order, cashier's check, cash or by a personal check with driver's license.
We do expect to raise our rates significantly on January 1, 2009 for events not booked by that date. To book an event, you must have a contract and have paid the deposit. Booking the event fixes the price and reserves the date.
EXTRA SERVICES:
If your hall is so situated that we have to haul the equipment up stairs, etc..., there will be additional charges for a roustabout. If your venue does not have electricity, there will be additional charges for generators and gasoline to run them. If your venue is outdoors, there will be additional charges for wooden platforms and a canopy to protect the equipment in case of rain, irrespective of projected weather reports. Outdoor/non-electric venues will also cost more as they require more time and effort. We do not mind a few steps, but going to a second floor will require a roustabout.
If you would like us to provide a parquet dance floor, please let us know in advance so we can make the appropriate arrangements. There are additional charges for this and that depends on the size of the dance floor you desire.
Functions more than fifty miles from the intersection of Hwy 360 & TX- 183 to the address of the function require a surchargeof $1.00 per mile one way. This intersection is near the south entrance to DFW Airport. Functions more than 100 miles will be an additional $3.25 per mile for one way travel over 100 miles. Surcharges must be paid with the deposit. This means most areas in the DFW Metroplex do not require a surcharge, but areas outside the circle of: Bridgeport, Decatur, Denton, McKinney, Ennis, Waxahachie, Royse City, Terrell, Kaufman, Hillsboro, Glen Rose, Granbury, or Mineral Wells could have a small surcharge. Please read the contract for cancellation provisions.
A mobile DJ puts in much more time than mixing & playing music. The hall must be contacted and arrangements made for set-up and take-down. The DJ needs to interface with the hall for access and power supply and lighting. Equipment must be taken from storage, inspected and loaded properly into transport for shipment, then unloaded at the site and taken to the hall. There is a drive to the hall from the place of storage. Power supplies must be checked, cables placed and the system set up. The system must be checked. If lighting is scheduled, the towers must be raised and power supplied and the lights installed. Arrangements must be made with the host and discussions held with respect to music, hours, and the desires of the host. At the end of the function, lights must cool and be disassembled. Towers need to be deconstructed and cables removed and stored. Equipment (heavy, bulky equipment) must be replaced into the transport and prepared for moving. There is a drive back to the place of storage and the equipment must be unloaded, inspected and stored properly. The DJ spends much more time and effort in a mobile environment than simply pressing a button and playing music. Additionally, expenses and matters affecting ordinary business are involved for the mobile DJ as well.
MUSIC
And for the music, the DJ also spends a great deal of time and money gathering the music and preparing the content. While we have many thousands of songs, if there are particular songs you would like to hear, please let us know at the time of reservation. Equipment, experience, reliability, personality and demeanor are important to the success of your function as well. The Disk Jockey is an artist in a specialized art form, but your enjoyment and the success of your party constitute the canvas upon which your DJ paints.
If you would like balloons or trinkets for giveaways and/or contests or party games, please discuss this with the DJ when you reserve the date and check out our store
Generally we play what you like most from: Classic Rock & Roll, Country, Trance, Popular and Dance Music from such eras and artists you may desire, from Bob Wills and Sinatra, to Elvis and Willie Nelson, from the Beatles and the Stones, to George Straight and Aaron Neville, from the Bee Gees, Donna Summer and Madonna, to Pink, Lenny Kravitz and current club music, and from Killer Jerry Lee Lewis to the Killers. We take requests from our extensive library and have request books listed by artist and by song title. We play very little rap, hip hop or ska and have some limited Spanish Language Music, but do play Rock, Pop, R&B, Blues, Christian & Gospel, Jazz, Classical, Dance and Electronic. We will be happy to discuss the type of party and music you want and will work with you to create a general playlist of the type of music most suited to bring you perfect enjoyment. Again, if we do not have the songs you most want to hear, just let us know. We do not expect to charge more for providing the songs you like, but if you can't find everything you like in our catalogue and we need to purchase a dozen songs, we would take a slightly larger deposit.

Lessons from the old man: Underpromise and overperform. Be fair and reasonable at all times, even when faced with someone who is intoxicated and unreasonable. Everyone you meet is a potential customer or knows one. Smile and enjoy yourself. Charge reasonably. Be the one you would hire. Referrals and repeat business are the hallmark of success. Do not employ anyone who accepts drinks on the job. It is your customer's party so make them happy. Find what you love to do and get paid for doing it. There will always be someone who will do a cheaper job, but they can not provide your level of service and stay in business. Elwood P. Dowd said, quoting his mother: "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." "Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me."
